Course Content
Delegates will learn to:
- Understand operator roles, responsibilities, and legal duties
- Identify and explain main components, controls, and functions of the lift truck
- Conduct thorough pre-use and operational checks
- Operate the machine safely on rough, uneven, or sloped ground conditions
- Assess loads and determine load centre and capacity limits
- Stack and de-stack loads at various heights and locations safely
- Manoeuvre in tight or restricted spaces while maintaining control and stability
- Recognise and safely navigate site hazards and gradient changes
- Understand the correct procedures for loading, unloading, and transportation
- Park, shut down, and secure the lift truck safely after operations

Course Duration
Novice Operators: Typically, 3 to 5 days
Experienced Operators / Refresher: 1 to 2 days
Duration depends on prior experience, ability, and class size.
Assessment
Each candidate will complete:
- A theoretical test (verbal or written)
- A practical operating assessment demonstrating safe and efficient operation of the lift truck
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS Operator Card for N009 – Rough Terrain Lift Truck.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must be 18 years or older.
A good understanding of spoken and written English is essential.
Delegates must be medically fit to operate heavy machinery.
This course can also be delivered by one of our instructors that speak Russian, Polish, or Lithuanian.
Certification
On successful completion of both theoretical and practical assessments, operators will receive an NPORS Operator Card (N009 – Rough Terrain Lift Truck), valid for 5 years from the date of issue or 2 years if they require to have CSCS logo.
