Course Content
Delegates will learn to:
- Understand the operator’s legal duties and responsibilities under relevant health and safety legislation
- Identify and explain the key components, functions, and controls of a material re-handler
- Perform comprehensive pre-use and operational checks
- Safely start, manoeuvre, and operate the machine in confined and open areas
- Position the machine for effective material loading, sorting, and stacking
- Use attachments such as grabs or magnets correctly and safely
- Understand load capacity, stability, and safe operating limits
- Recognise and control potential hazards related to ground conditions, visibility, and load handling
- Shut down, park, and secure the machine safely after use

Training Course throughout the UK, primarily operating in London, Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk.
Course Duration
Novice Operator: Typically, 3 to 5 days
Experienced Operator / Refresher: 1 to 2 days
Duration may vary based on experience and number of delegates.
Assessment
Each participant will complete:
A theoretical test (written or verbal) covering relevant safety and operational knowledge
A practical assessment to demonstrate the competent and safe operation of the material re-handler
On successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card for N722 – Material Re-Handler.
Entry Requirements
All candidates must be 18 years or older.
A good understanding of spoken and written English is essential.
Delegates must be medically fit to operate heavy machinery safely.
This course can also be delivered by one of our instructors that speak Russian, Polish, or Lithuanian.
Certification
On successful completion of both theoretical and practical assessments, candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card (N722 – Material Re-Handler), valid for 5 years from the date of issue or 2 years if they require to have CSCS logo.
