Course Overview
The Agricultural Tractor course covers both theoretical and practical elements to ensure delegates can confidently operate and maintain the tractor safely.
The training includes machine controls, attachment use, maintenance checks, and the safe handling of loads and towing equipment.
This course is suitable for both novice and experienced operators.
Course Content
Delegates will learn to:
- Understand operator responsibilities, legal requirements, and health & safety regulations
- Identify and explain the main components and functions of an agricultural tractor
- Conduct pre-start and operational checks in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Safely mount and dismount the tractor
- Start, manoeuvre, and operate the machine in various terrain and site conditions
- Attach, operate, and remove PTOs (Power Take-Offs), linkages, and other attachments safely
- Transport loads and tow trailers within safe working parameters
- Recognise and avoid site hazards and potential risks
- Shut down, secure, and park the tractor safely after use
Entry Requirements
- Candidates must be 18 years or older.
- A good understanding of spoken and written English is required.
- Participants must be medically fit to operate machinery safely.
- This course can also be delivered by one of our instructors that speak Russian, Polish, or Lithuanian.
Training Locations
We offer flexible training delivery options:
- At your premises: Using your own agricultural tractor and equipment (subject to site suitability and safety standards).

Course Duration
- Novice Operator: Typically, 2 to 3 days
- Experienced Operator / Refresher: 1 day
Duration may vary depending on prior experience and number of participants.
Assessment
Each candidate will complete:
- A theory assessment (written or verbal)
- A practical operating assessment demonstrating safe and competent use of the agricultural tractor
On successful completion, delegates will receive a BRITTOp Operator Certificate and id Card for – Agricultural Tractor.
Certification
Delegates who successfully complete both theory and practical assessments will receive a BRITTOp Operator Certificate and id Card for – Agricultural Tractor.
Agricultural Tractor certificate valid for 3-5 years from the date of issue
