Course Content
Delegates will learn to:
- Understand the roles, duties, and responsibilities of a hoist operator
- Identify and explain the functions and components of hoisting equipment
- Conduct pre-use inspections and routine maintenance checks
- Understand relevant legislation, including HASAWA, LOLER, and PUWER
- Operate the hoist safely for transporting passengers and/or materials
- Load and unload materials correctly within safe working limits
- Understand signals and communication with site personnel during operations
- Recognise and avoid potential hazards such as overloading, obstructions, and poor ground conditions
- Respond correctly in emergency or malfunction situations
- Shut down, secure, and isolate the hoist safely at the end of use

Course Duration

Assessment
Each delegate will complete:
A theoretical assessment (verbal or written) covering safety awareness and operational knowledge
A practical assessment demonstrating safe and efficient hoist operation
Successful delegates will receive an NPORS Operator Card for N111 – Hoist.
Entry Requirements
Delegates must be 18 years or older.
A good understanding of spoken and written English is essential.
Delegates must be medically fit to operate site equipment safely.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive an NPORS Operator Card (N111 – Hoist), valid for 5 years from the date of issue or 2 years if they require to have CSCS logo.
