Course Content
Delegates will learn to:
- Understand the duties and responsibilities of a lorry mounted forklift operator under UK legislation
- Identify the main components, functions, and controls of a Moffett truck
- Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections in line with manufacturer guidance
- Safely mount and dismount the forklift from the lorry
- Operate the forklift safely on various ground conditions and gradients
- Load, unload, transport, and stack materials safely and efficiently
- Apply correct load handling techniques using load charts and stability data
- Recognise workplace hazards, pedestrian safety zones, and traffic management systems
- Park, secure, and shut down the forklift correctly at the end of use
Course Duration
- Novice Operators: Typically 2–3 days
- Experienced Operators / Refresher Training: 1 day
- Conversion Course: 1 day
Assessment and Certification
Delegates will complete:
- A theory test (written or verbal)
- A practical assessment demonstrating safe and competent operation
Successful candidates will receive an Accredited Lorry Mounted Forklift (Moffett) Operator Certificate and ID Card, valid for 3 to 5 years, subject to awarding body requirements.
