IPAF MEWP Training

The law requires that employees must be properly trained on the equipment they use at work. The most widely recognised proof of professional training for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) operatives is the International Powered Access Federation’s Powered Access Licence (PAL Card). It is awarded to operators who successfully complete training and remains valid for a full five years.

Who needs a PAL Card?

If you need to work at height and use access equipment (MEWPs):

  • IPAF believes that you should receive basic training
  • In addition to your main job, e.g. electrician, painter, decorator, cleaner, you will acquire a new skill
  • Platforms are designed to be easy to use and offer a safe way to work at height, but with basic training you will use the equipment more effectively and safely

If you are an employer

  • You can be sure that legal requirements have been fulfilled if your platform operators have the PAL card
  • Most legislation, covering Health & Safety obligations, accident prevention and work at height regulations, requires you to provide employees with proper and adequate training in the use of work equipment.

IPAF training to the highest standard means that your platform operators will also work more efficiently and productively..

From IPAF scissor lift training to mobile boom operator and static boom, we offer IPAF training for the following categories of mobile working platforms: 1a, 1b, 3a, 3b and H. Courses range from 1 – 3 days depending on how many categories you need training on and following the successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate for each category, logbook, and your IPAF licence (PAL card). The IPAF licence is valid for 5 years and shows all the categories that you are accredited to use, after 5 years you will need to be re-assessed.
